Yesterday we went to the Clovis Rodeo Parade--a yearly must for all Clovis cowboys and wannabes like us. As we were walking there this conversation took place. I'm not sure why it struck me, but I just had to write it down.
Ellie: Oh, look at the humongous tower!
Coleman: Did you know that has water in it? Look at all that electrical on top!
Mom: Those are actually antennae.
Claire: Antennae are for contacting aliens in outer space.
Ellie: I don't like aliens.
Anson: I do!
Now I'm sure that doesn't sound nearly as funny written down as it did at the moment, but it just tickled me! It was all said in such a matter of fact way, everyone participated, it was just so . . . kids! I love those moments. Another great moment as the parade started and there were girls on horses right in front of us and Ellie turned to me with her huge eyes and excitement all over her face and says, "Mom, this is AMAZING!!!"
After Stake Conference today Garrett was lamenting that the older kids don't seem to know how to whisper, only Ellie, to which she replied, "Daddy teached me how to whispered." She has the greatest grammar of any of our kids. She still gets her pronouns all mixed up and uses "mines" frequently (as in, "Is that pen mines?") She says, won't you instead of will you, as in, "Mom, won't you please come wipe me?" As if she has to beg. She also stutters when she's excited or distracted, which would worry us except that it's not all the time. It is very entertaining and endearing. She just has so much personality! I made this scrapbook page to memorialize Ellie's fun personality. In case you didn't know, you can click on the picture to see the full-size image. The color doesn't look great--if anyone knows how to remedy this problem with blogger, let me know!
