I made this page for Garrett as a tribute to his maternal grandparents, Frank and June Swallow. He sent me this picture on my mission with this caption on the back: "This is one of my favorite pictures. My grandparents are my heroes. They exemplify a celestial marriage. This was taken on their mission in Israel."
I have loved them as my own grandparents since we met. They love everyone and accept everyone. They live very close to Temple Square which enabled them to walk to the temple several days a week to serve there until a couple of years ago. They have even welcomed my parents to their home while they were attending General Conference. They love to have the great-grandkids visit them. Our kids call them GG and Poppy!
Grandma and Grandpa Swallow have a tradition of having "Sunday Sundaes" at their home each fast Sunday. All family members in town are invited to their home for ice-cream, sometimes a potluck meal. We love going any time we are in town. It is such a wonderful thing for them to do to keep extended family in touch. Since we don't have family in our town, we have started our own version of Sunday Sundaes. We invite a couple of other families over for ice-cream and have enjoyed getting to know our ward family even more.
Thank you Grandma and Grandpa for being such great examples to us--we want to be just like you when we grow up! We love you!
